Moving from Charleston to Monterey
"...58, 59, 60 boxes, toys, books, furniture, one husband, two kids,
one
cat...wait... where’s the cat??!"
As I sit here among many boxes with half of our belongings still in
storage, I still can’t believe in one month we moved everything from our
house near the warm, sandy beach and clear blue ocean of the Atlantic
(hurricanes) to the cool breezes, sandy cliffs and aqua-marine waters of
the Pacific (earthquakes). Jim finished teaching for four years as a
Mathematics and Physics instructor for the Navy and is now looking
forward to being an MBA student at the Naval Postgraduate School. I
ended my two years as an English language teacher for the Charleston
County public schools, and am excited to stay home with Kylie and hang out with the
sea lions at the beach. Jayani our California girl is happy to return
to her birthplace and begin her education at the beautiful Colton school
in the Monterey hills overlooking the bay. Kylie our Southern belle
said a sad good-bye
to her first teachers Ms. Hessie and Ms. Blessie and her birthplace
Charleston, where the history and charm of the South meet the sweet
grass and Spanish moss. She is looking forward to being a beach bum
with her mom and the sea lions.
So now as we celebrate our 9th anniversary, I thank God for all of you
who have "moved" with us from the beginning of our marriage in Canada to
Japan, New York, Pasadena, Charleston, and to all who we’ve met along
the way. You have touched our lives in so many ways and we always keep
you in our family prayers. Thank you for continuing to cross out our
old addresses in your books and adding yet another under the Wilkin
name.
God’s blessings to all of you!
Jim, Jay, Jayani and Kylie
